The ban was compared to blogging site Tumblr's decision to ban sexually explicit content in 2018. The initial announcement raised questions of how the platform would survive without explicit content. "Adult content and sex workers have built OnlyFans," Julies Kim, CEO of Scarlet Alliance, the Australian Sex Workers Association, said at the time of the ban. Its creators cover a range of professions including photographers, cooks, personal trainers, fashion influencers and TV personalities.īut its most popular content by far is nudes and pornography.
